What to expect:
The first few sessions are focused on understanding and clarifying your goals for therapy. It’s also a time to see if we’re a good fit.
If it seems we aren’t a good fit, I can assist in finding someone who may be a better fit.
If we decide to work together, you can expect:
Safe environment: My priority is creating a secure and comfortable environment to explore areas of importance to clients.
Control: Clients never have to talk about areas that are too uncomfortable; they control the direction of sessions.
Transparency: I explain what I’m doing and the reasons I’m doing it.
Collaboration: I view clients not as patients to be worked on, but as equal partners to work with.
Respect: Clients receive a high degree of respect from me. It’s normal to be hesitant about counseling; fearing being judged or diagnosed. From my clinical experience, I’ve learned we all struggle with the same things, just to different degrees.
Confidentiality: I do not share client stories with others and do not approach clients in public. We will review confidentiality in detail during our first session.
